Smeg, which has always been committed to producing home appliances with a Made in Italy design, combines its long-standing vocation for creativity with a scrupulous focus on research into low-impact solutions that can help make the company self-sufficient in terms of energy consumption.
The collaboration with Enel X, a supplier of innovative solutions leading the global energy transition, is the most recent of the Emilia-based company’s sustainable value generation projects.
The project involves the installation of two latest-generation photovoltaic systems at SMEG's production sites in Guastalla (RE) and Bonferraro (VR), consisting of more than 900 photovoltaic modules equipped with power optimisers. The systems, which will produce 4GWh of energy each year, will reduce the overall mean consumption of the two facilities by 25%, avoiding the emission into the atmosphere of 22 thousand tonnes of CO2 for the Guastalla site and 19 thousand tonnes for the Bonferraro site over the next 25 years.
