Smeg Instrument supplies the CSSD of Famagusta Hospital, Cyprus

This supply represents a significant step in improving hygiene and sterilisation standards in one of the island's most important hospitals.

Smeg Instruments has been contracted to supply state-of-the-art equipment for the central sterilisation facility (CSSD) of the Famagusta hospital in Cyprus. The project included the supply of two large thermal washer disinfectors, automatic loading and unloading systems, and a wide range of accessories designed to optimise the sterilisation process of surgical instruments.

Customer needs

Famagosta Hospital expressed the need to modernise its sterilisation system to cope with the increasing demands for safety in surgical procedures. The main objectives were: To increase the operational efficiency of the CSSD. Reduce thermodisinfection times to meet an increasing volume of surgical procedures Improve the quality of washing to minimise the risk of infection Integrate automated solutions to reduce the workload of healthcare staff

Solutions provided

The solutions provided by Smeg consist of a complete range of equipment to meet the facility's objectives: two large thermal washer-disinfectors, equipped with advanced technology to ensure effective disinfection. These devices offer energy efficiency, ease of use and advanced control systems. To complete the machine package, automatic loading and unloading systems were also provided to automate processes and optimise the workflow of healthcare personnel. Finally, accessories were installed to improve the cleaning and preparation of surgical instruments.
