Innovation and Excellence in Hospital Sterilisation

Smeg Instruments recently completed a major supply project for the Central Sterilisation Department (CSSD) of the Nicosia Hospital in Cyprus.

In the healthcare sector, the sterilisation of surgical instruments is crucial to ensure patient safety and the effectiveness of medical procedures.  The Nicosia hospital recognised the need to modernise and upgrade its sterilisation facilities to ensure efficient and fast washing and disinfection processes.

The Smeg Instruments Solution

  • 4 WD7015T thermal washer-disinfectors: Smeg thermal disinfectors offer high performance, guaranteeing effective disinfection through optimised washing cycles. In addition, the fast turbo cycles allow the user to achieve optimum results with considerable time savings. The machines and program are thus adjustable to the specific needs of the CSSD.

  • Automatic Loading and Unloading Systems: These systems improve operational efficiency by reducing the risk of contamination and minimising human intervention. Process automation also enables greater time management, freeing up human resources for other activities.

  • Complete Accessories: The supply includes a range of accessories designed to optimise the washing of all surgical instruments, ensuring deep and targeted cleaning of all types of instruments, from the simplest to the most complex.

The project, which was completed in June 2024, has enabled the Nicosia hospital to count on improved efficiency of disinfection processes, increased safety and consequent satisfaction of healthcare staff. Smeg Instruments remains committed to providing solutions tailored to the specific needs of its customers in the hospital, laboratory, pharmaceutical and care sectors, thus contributing to the well-being and safety of patients worldwide.
